The Christmas holidays is renowned as a busy time of year to travel. For some people, their pets will be coming along with them. For people who are going to be travelling with Rover of Muffin, here are a few tips, courtesy of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
- If you?re going to be travelling by car, get a pet ready for the trip by taking a series of professively longer excursions in the vehicle.
- Don?t feed your pet in a moving vehicle. Instead, feed them a light meal three to four hours before leaving.
- This point is especially important as your pet will be away from home: make sure your pet is micro-chipped and is wearing a collar and ID tag. Be sure to include your contact information on the collar.
- Bring the requisite pet supplies along, such as food, water, bowls, etc. To give your pet a sense of familiarity during the trip, include one of their favourite pillows or toys in their carrier.
